Medical Device Coatings
Modulate physical biocompatibility by preventing protein and bacterial attachment or decrease friction by providing durable, lubricious coatings.
AeonClad specializes in altering chemical biocompatibility by producing attachment moities or anti-bacterial, anticellular coatings.
Our proprietary combination of pulsed RF plasma deposition with special monomers minimizes surface bioreactivity, and thereby reduces or eliminates inflammatory responses. These types of coatings can be tailored to eliminate cellular adhesion moieties, greatly diminishing scar tissue formation. In addition to delivering a smooth, controlled surface, AeonClad can also reduce inflammatory responses and improve the wound healing process by incorporating controlled release drug compounds into the coating matrix. This capability can also be used for imaging. For example, the AeonCoat™ process is flexible enough to allow incorporation of fluorophores into coatings, therefore increasing visibility of implanted devices in imaging systems.
