Richard B. Timmons, Ph.D.


Dr. Timmons is a University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) chemistry professor and Chief Scientific Officer of AeonClad Coatings.

He was appointed Distinguished University Professor and Member of the UTA Academy of Scholars (2007) as well as being awarded the Distinguished Record of Faculty Research Award (2001).



His research interests include surface chemistry, chemistry of plasma systems, catalysis, coatings technology, photochemistry and chemical kinetics.

Dr. Timmons is the co-inventor of nine U.S. patents and the co-author of twelve patent publications. His laboratory at UTA is currently funded by the National Institute of Health, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and the Department of Defense.

Previous funding has included numerous public awards as well as industry collaborations.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada and a doctorate in Physical Chemistry from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
